Overview:

Eaton Static Transfer Switch (STS)

Eaton Static Transfer Switches are designed to enhance our line of advanced backup power management solutions, adding an increased level of power quality, flexibility, availability and reliability to create the best ups power protection infrastructure.

Eaton Type II Static Transfer Switch (STS)

Eaton Type II STS transfer electrical loads from one source to another, but provides more power availability. The Type II STS eliminates the chance of a loss of power to critical loads by properly coordinating with the electrical distribution system. During a fault condition, the Type II STS will continue to conduct current, allowing downstream circuit breakers to work selectively.

Unmatched Reliability

  • A patented transfer algorithm and robust electrical components ensure no single point of failure
  • Increased MTBDE to an estimated 10 million hours
  • A triple-redundant design ensures reliability: each supply is capable of supporting all control power

Breakthrough Technology

  • Unparalleled alarms, metering and diagnostics
  • Software-guided breaker operation eliminates human error
  • Up to 30% smaller than comparable industry models, an ultra-dense footprint reduces demand on valuable data center real estate
  • Dual-redundant fans provide back-up cooling and notification of any fan failures

Maximal Monitoring and Management

  • Detailed monitoring, reporting and trending capabilities
  • Graphical user interface and mimic panel for local system monitoring and configuration
  • Remote-access capability for system, event and alarm monitoring
  • With over 100 event types, 2,500 events can be stored or downloaded for analysis
  • Three-tiered user-defined thresholds for power quality management

Exceptional Ease of Access

  • Flexible access for ease of cabling, operation and maintenance
  • Advanced communications allow access at any time from any location
  • A unique modular design reduces open-door time to 15 minutes for standard servicing

Type II Static Transfer Switch:

Time is money as the world of business continues to move at breakneck speed. Downtime due to power problems can quickly escalate into significant lost revenue if the right infrastructure is not in place. In applications where seamless transfers of power are necessary due to the critical nature of the electrical load, the Eaton Type II Static Transfer Switch (STS) is the solution of choice. Type II STSs are high-speed open-transition switches that can transfer electrical loads from one AC power source to another in a fraction of a single electrical cycle. The Type II STS eliminates the chance of a loss of power to critical loads by properly coordinating with the electrical distribution system. During a fault condition, the Type II STS will continue to conduct current, allowing downstream circuit breakers to work selectively. Designed by Cyberex, an industry leader in static switch technology, the Type II STS provides state-of-theart technology and reliability. By incorporating a STS into a facilities power infrastructure, many UPS/building system configurations become a possibility, ranging from single module reverse transfer systems up to full distributed redundant systems.
